\r\n MOSAIC IS SO MUCH MORE
\r\n\r\n When I first became involved with Mosaic, the focus was to reach out to orphans in South Africa and find the way to help them live a better\r\n life. I realize now that, in the beginning, the definition of a “better” life was from an outsider’s point of view.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n Over the years, Mosaic has become so much more. Our vision grew to support not just orphans, but all vulnerable children in South Africa.\r\n Through the years we came to realize that in order to truly help our OVC to realize their God-given potential, we needed to listen carefully to\r\n find out what their needs truly were.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n This past year, when it would have been so easy to focus on the problems that COVID presented to this world, the staff at Mosaic took the\r\n opportunity to listen and to learn. Mosaic does so much. But it is not just building a house or providing an afternoon of safety after school\r\n that will change the life for a child.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n It is embracing the family and helping them deal with all of the challenges that life has presented to all of them. We have to include the\r\n family that has already made a commitment to the child in our planning and our efforts if we truly hope to allow a child to reach their\r\n potential.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n Whether through job creation for parents or facilitating parent support group and offering individual counseling sessions for any member of the\r\n Mosaic family; whether making sure there are safe, entertaining and educational afterschool programs and talent development for our children;\r\n whether it is providing the opportunity for those who desire further education to obtain that goal; whether it is celebrating special days in\r\n life together as a family; whether it is providing a home or making sure there is food to eat, Mosaic has evolved to become an organization\r\n willing to learn and to grow with our families.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n But without your support, the energy and wisdom of Mosaic could only go so far. It is because you believe in what we are doing; because you are\r\n willing to support the dedication and work being done that, together, we are able to walk with our families to make their journey easier.\r\n

\r\n FAMILIES\r\n \r\n \r\n The Mosaic model was successfully developed and implemented in South Africa in 2008 and has been replicated in three different provinces, with a site\r\n in Potchefstroom/Ikageng (North-West Province), Paarl Valley (Western Cape) and Gqeberha (Eastern Cape).\r\n

V I S I O N
\r\n\r\n Our vision is for every orphaned and vulnerable child in South Africa to have a loving and caring family, where they can be equipped to realise their\r\n God-given potential.\r\n
\r\n\r\n We believe that a safe, supportive and healthy family environment is the best space for kids to thrive and we therefore partner with families taking\r\n care of orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) through the Mosaic Model.\r\n
\r\nG R O W T H S T R A T E G Y
\r\n\r\n We know that one organisation will not be able to serve all orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in South Africa, but we believe that\r\n through partnerships we can achieve our goal. Organisations or individuals partner with us, by implementing the Mosaic Model in their local community.\r\n Through these partnerships we will be able to see significantly more OVC and their caregivers reach their God-given potential.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n Mosaic Deben is the first such partnership. They are an independently registered Mosaic Centre implementing the Mosaic Model with all its different\r\n programmes in Deben in the Northern Cape. We support them in the following ways:\r\n
